I think it is hard to determine whether old string is waxed or simply contaminated with oil, but I would agree that waxing linen thread is supposed to enhance its strength and should reduce any friction.Rob Bowkerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12065940710708289511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1906642113469252066.post-73162727703272400632015-08-17T19:39:31.617+01:002015-08-17T19:39:31.617+01:00Many thanks for this. However, I noticed that the string seemed waxed (under magnification). I therefore obtained black waxed linen thread from a craft shop (via Amazon) and this seemed to be identical to the original thread in the machine. Waxed thread would seem to be logical as it would seem to act as a lubricate/enable the thread to pass quickly via the pulley. It is working beautifully on my machine.Pete Verdonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02985173877119709983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1906642113469252066.post-86992063603340190042014-08-15T17:00:41.484+01:002014-08-15T17:00:41.484+01:00Well done. Seeing the number of these found broken in the wild (well over half) this will come in handy for lots of folks, since there are still hordes of folding Coronas to be found out there. Will Davishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04371377137844175320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1906642113469252066.post-658943104307485912014-08-14T09:54:08.096+01:002014-08-14T09:54:08.096+01:00This is genius Rob, a comprehensive account of a c...This is genius Rob, a comprehensive account of a comprehensive jobSteve Snowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08096720918399327814noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1906642113469252066.post-80196087239033958972014-08-12T11:11:31.827+01:002014-08-12T11:11:31.827+01:00Enjoyable read, with the technical, practical deta...Enjoyable read, with the technical, practical detail and images :-) <br /><br />(And useful to boot!)RobertGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01841652527282627317noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1906642113469252066.post-65437318618139866522014-08-09T11:40:15.575+01:002014-08-09T11:40:15.575+01:00Nice one.
