I always say that no single weather event is proof of climate change, but a perusal of the record books which shows much more frequent floods, droughts, hot weather records, cold weather records in recent years is proof of climate change. As for the cause- anthropogenic vs natural, a consensus formed through hundreds of peer reviewed journal articles are unlikely to be wrong.

    1. True. I think a look at local geology tells us quite a lot about climate change. This place was under an ice sheet not so long ago. It was tropical at one time too. The climate changes whatever the cause. It would be fun to have the chance of finding out if we can make the planet less uninhabitable for more people by not evaporating hydrocarbons quite as quickly as we are.

  3. I think there's a parallel to be drawn here between political inaction on climate change and a certain accident-prone and highly incompetent vet named "Mr Chinnery". But that could be the "All Creatures" beer talking!
