I have a tubing cutter that is angular to hold tubing flat and square to the cutting blade and has a triangular blade. It does quite good at keeping the ends squared. Richard's tip works also. Aluminum is generally very easy to work unless it is tempered or surface hardened. If that were the case, you could not have bent it without cracking it or even breaking it.

That's what I thought before my failed attempts at drilling. I blame myself not having the right tools for the job.
