Some tools are just beautiful. I have a brace that belonged to my wife's grandfather and it is a striking piece of machinery. The wood has a great patina from countless years of use. So, I totally understand your love of the Eclipse Junior. I am happy to hear that the Lexicon is not besting you. <y own Lexi is currently on a shelf not working. There is something dodgy with the fluted shaft that is well beyond my art to remedy. Don't they use pennies to alter the center-of-mass of Big Ben's pendulum? Quite the connection to your repair. Hi good day, I have recently acquired a Smith-Corona 'Vantage' (Olivetti Lexikon 82) which has a problem with the shift key. It seems as if the motor slips out of gear when the type ball spins 'round, at which point the only remedy is power-off, power-on (a-la Microsoft Windows). Any service pointers? I only just tried it out for the first time, I haven't even cleaned it off yet. The platen, and most surfaces, seem to be covered in some kind of machine oil. Sincerely, Kevin
Motor? Do I hear the word motor? Dear chap, I'm more than happy to ride above or behind a motor for a journey but there's no place for such a thing in a typewriter. It isn't as though typing's especially arduous, after all. No service pointers here.
