I'm the same, I think. Don't often get into a good conversation with somebody I can talk with and I just end up carrying on full speed, running from one thing to the next. I guess it balances the rest of the time when I'm all quiet and reclusive.
It sounds as if you and Richard enjoyed visiting, even if there wasn't a large crowd. I'm sure word-of-mouth will assure that successive events better attended.
