Fruitful

  1. Bother - my Reine Claude plum jam hasn't set at all. It just seems such a palaver to re-boil it. Maybe I could just do it jar by jar in the microwave...

    1. That's a shame, jam's a BIT more straightforward and forgiving but obviously can still run away with you.

  2. I applaud your efforts. My grandmother and mother were excellent jam and jelly makers, but I admit to being far too lazy to have ever attempted it. It's so much easier to grab a jar off the shelf at the store. If I made homemade biscuits every day like they did, however, I might find inspiration...but something will have to inspire me to make the biscuits first.

    1. As we were picking, a chap with a terrier approached to tell us about the great blackberry vines down the path. He remarked that not as many people get out picking wild fruit like they used to. The thing is, you can't buy 'home made' blackberry and apple jelly in the shops.

    Ah, those wonderful Maman jam jars! We use them for small drinking glasses as well as storage. Very useful and attractive.

  6. Love it! Mrs. Moon has been filling our larder with jellies and preserves, and while they look beautiful there in there many colors, they taste even better.
