Sounds like you've been enjoying your woodwork an awful lot of late. My father also made a big deal a while ago about getting the gear to do a dovetail, including a Japanese saw that I accompanied him to the store to purchase. Like your work and your writing. enjoy!
The Japanese pull-saws are great to use, and they don't leave much of a kerf.
That is one nice spoon. You are way ahead of me when it comes to getting your own wood and hand carving a spoon. I've never hand carved anything.Nice work!
Bill, I'm ahead of you by precisely 48 hours. Not much in the big scheme of things. Looking forward to Spoon #2...
"I must find the perfect spoon"It looks lovely, especially for your first one.
could be a long journey
Your spoon reminds me of Japanese craft - clean, simple, and very nicely done. Congratulations. I dare you to make a fork!
That's precisely what my son said! Question is, gouge then tines or tines then gouge? The prospect of a spork also came up...
Now that's a trip in the wayback machine!
You could award it to the England cricket team for being very poor runners-up in the recent Ashes test series!
Very impressive. It's beautifully simple.
Nice work! And remember: it's not the spoon that bends...
:-) I had to look that one up Peter. Now I need to go back and watch it again?
