That's a perfect lip on that spoon! Beautiful wood grain too. My wood block is taking forever to sculpt. Super dense wood and not as visually interesting as your spoons since the wood grain isn't that visible. Ah, but shall see what I can make of it :)
If you can come by a fresh-cut, straight grained piece of the maple (acer) family, you could do worse than cut your teeth on some green wood carving first. Who knows?
