As they say, Rob, perfection lies in the imperfection. This spoon shows that a human hand created it. I like the knotting(?) that's visible in the bowl.
The black marks in Spoon #13 are dead knots from in-grown twigs early in the tree's life. The concentric whorls are just the growth rings revealed like strata through the depth of the bowl.
Well, I very much like it personally. The heavy handle, with the delicate lip gives this spoon interesting contrasts. Just like the high contrast in the wood.

DeleteMmmn. Dogfish Head 90 minute Imperial IPA is my brew for tonight. (:
ReplyDeleteOuch! 9% abv gets the "barley wine" monicker in these parts. Enjoy.
DeleteNicely contoured.
ReplyDeleteContours, exactly.

ReplyDeleteThanks Scott. Visually I can see the appeal but functionally I doubt it would last beyond single a use.
