Hi Bill. Well he tracked me down through previous posts about the Remington Rand. I never pass on my older typewriters, just the occasional 1960s lightweight machines if someone happens to need one.
Good stuff (wonders of the global online...) Recognize the skipping tendency of these - I think Mr George G Going designed a very sensitive escapement that is rather too keen to get going a space too far! Staccato typing helps still have to try a thorough cleaning to see if that helps it.
I think you are right - that's a hair trigger. A clean would certainly help and, looking back at old typescripts, this problem is new. Maybe it gets better with use?
