  2. The cat you were fixing fell off the table and can't get up :D

    1. Nancy gets like this when it is hot and wanting attention. You walk up to her and she rolls on her back until you scratch her corpulence.

  3. It looks like the cat appreciated the beer, too ;-)

  4. I'm so enjoying following your adventures with this Yost, and the Spianl Tap reference was well placed!

  5. That is awesome to read - lots of tips and tricks for future dig into my Yost. Great spring awakening for your blog, new beer to try for me, Nancy seems to enjoy the process too - and all for mere 20 quid! :)

    1. Yes, Nancy loves it when there's someone to play out in the garden with. She's not keen on the small of Brasso though. I'm on the look-out for a shallow tray to suspend the machine over while I scrub the type with either meths (really dissolves the ink but readily distributes it everywhere in thinned form) or white spirit, which will also help clean the type basket as I can scrub down there a little before it evaporates. Still giving great value after 108 years!

    2. Aaaaaanyway - this got me poking on my Yost already. Now the drawband is hooked again and basically that was it! The machine came back to life - typeslugs need a good clean but it seems the ink is still in the pad so I'll have a nice type sample soon.

    3. Well I managed to get some impressions out of mine between attaching a drawband and stripping the carriage assembly. But the process was unpleasant because everything was so grimy and unsmooth. I'm hoping for some sort of better typing experience when it is all back together again and I have sourced new/rejuvenated the ink pad.

  6. Very nice work! If I ever get a Yost I know I'll be reading, rereading, and rereading all your posts.
